Thanks for the comment. The darkness at the edges (more prominent in the corners) is vignetting and is added in post processing. It is a tool to add more attention to the center area of a photograph. I tend to add it on shots that I would like to appear older and/or nostalgic looking.
I'm a fan of the vignetting. I use it from time to time, but however you're doing yours has a nice, natural feel to it. A lot of shots I've seen using it recently look fake.

I have a soft spot for windmills, having grown up with a windmill in the yard. I love this photo.
