Wagon Wheels
My daughter Sarah and I refer to oranges cut this way as Wagon Wheels. My wife doesn't get it.
After cutting these last night for Sarah's dessert, the color and juiciness of the orange just begged to be captured. I used a flash with a diffuser to spread the light evenly and avoid harsh shadows.
Do you call these Wagon Wheels?

I cut oranges like that and serve them with a meal. Well, actually, I cut them across the segments rather than in line with them as in your photo. We call them "orange rounds". That distinguishes them from "apple rounds" which are often found in the same serving dish. I like the name "wagon wheels" though, and I see why you call them that.
After reading Genevieve's comment, I do believe that for them to be true Wagon Wheels they would be cut across the segments, thus giving the spoke effect.
I suppose, but you have cut them DOWNWARDS, not horizonal, then it would be wagan wheels. I like your wife, lol, and i love your photography. (what sort of Canon btw? I just bought an EOS 350D, need to practise using it in different situations more
